El Legado de Las Diosas

En las cumbres de los Cárpatos Blancos, en la comunidad de Zítková, se encuentran agazapadas unas pocas casas. Todo queda muy lejos. Allí, dicen, desde tiempos inmemoriales un linaje de mujeres con unas facultades excepcionales ha logrado preservar un conocimiento y una intuición que han pasado de generación en generación durante siglos. Sanadoras, sabias y videntes, transmiten su arte de madre a hija, y se las llama diosas. Si se dice que ven el futuro, ¿por qué no han sabido protegerse del suyo? Dora Idesová, la última de esta estirpe, siempre se ha mostrado reacia a compartir las creencias de sus predecesoras. O eso parece hasta que un drama familiar la separa de sus seres queridos y despierta en ella la necesidad de conocer sus raíces, de comprender a las enigmáticas diosas. Su vida cambia abruptamente cuando, a finales de 1990, en los archivos del Ministerio del Interior, encuentra un expediente sobre su tía, Terézie Surmenová, supuesta enemiga del régimen que fue sometida a una estricta vigilancia hasta el final de sus días.

On the summits of the White Carpathians, in the community of Zítková, a few houses are crouched. Everything is far away. There, they say, from time immemorial a lineage of women with exceptional faculties has managed to preserve knowledge and intuition that have been passed down from generation to generation for centuries. Healers, wise and seers, they transmit their art from mother to daughter, and they are called goddesses. If they say they see the future, why haven't they been able to protect themselves from theirs? Dora Idesová, the last of this line, has always been reluctant to share the beliefs of her predecessors. Or so it seems until a family drama separates her from her loved ones and awakens in her the need to know her roots, to understand the enigmatic goddesses. Her life changes abruptly when, at the end of 1990, in the archives of the Ministry of the Interior, she finds a file on her aunt, Terézie Surmenová, an alleged enemy of the regime who was subjected to strict surveillance until the end of her years.
